Smith & Associates Launches New Rotational Training Program
Houston, TX (PRWEB) September 30, 2013 -- Smith & Associates, the largest independent distributor of electronic components, today announces the launch of its new rotational training program for onboarding salespeople. This program will offer a unique expansion of training curricula of the past by offering time and opportunities for new traders to learn Smith inside and out and actively take part in the processes of several of the various departments that help support the company’s sales team.
“The purpose of this new training initiative is to immerse our new salespeople in what goes on behind the scenes so that they can learn the inner workings of our company,” said Ken Neusaenger, Smith’s Director of Sales Development, who developed this program alongside Smith’s Vice President of Human Resources, Leslie McIntyre. “This new program will help new traders learn all of the interdepartmental processes that help us to deliver the services and quality levels our competitors simply can’t match, so that they will be more effective in discussing Smith’s value propositions.”
Trainees will rotate through various key training phases in Smith’s different departments, from in-depth time studying its quality program and gaining hands-on perspective with processes like product inspection, testing, and safely packaging items, to time studying messaging in Smith’s marketing department. Other training phases in the program will include extensive work with Smith’s Price Point Variance group, tech and IT experts, and purchasing department.
At roughly a year, including training on the front and back end, this rotational training program is engineered to be brief enough to keep trainees’ momentum constant, while lengthy enough to let them learn the company in considerable depth.
“We are very excited about the Smith Trading Rotational Training Program and believe it will allow new graduates to gain a broad perspective of our core functions and build foundational knowledge that is critical to success at Smith,” said Leslie.
“Ultimately, this larger context and knowing our company and its departments inside and out will help our traders understand what our capabilities actually are,” said Ken, “and – from there – what our considerable abilities are to meet our customers’ needs and offer them exemplary support.”
