Smith Insurance Agencies Kicks Off New Community Program by Partnering with Capes4Heroes to Inspire and Empower Special-Needs Children
BERKELEY, Calif. (PRWEB) October 24, 2017 -- Smith Insurance Agencies of northern California announces the creation of a philanthropic program designed to strengthen and enrich the communities it serves. By working closely with nonprofit groups and community leaders, the agency hopes to bring greater awareness to important local causes by the formation of 60-day campaigns which aid worthy organizations, families or individuals.
Peggy and Richard Smith, co-owners of Smith Insurance Agencies, have chosen to debut the agency’s Community Program by helping to empower and inspire children through Capes4Heroes. This remarkable organization sews personalized superhero capes for children with disabilities and life-threatening illnesses – and for kids who simply need to feel an extra boost of courage and strength. The initiative was begun by Barbara Casados when her autistic son refused to wear anything but a superhero cape. She bought a sewing machine, taught herself how to sew, and began making capes. As other special needs parents began requesting capes, Capes4Heroes was born. Four short years later, Barbara and her team of seamstresses have delivered over 15,000 personalized capes to kids all over the world. Children receive their special capes at superhero parties, camps and hospitals.
“‘Caping’ our community heroes inspires us,” said Peggy Smith. “These children truly are our local heroes and rarely get recognized for their bravery and strong-will. We are very excited to support such an amazing organization that focuses on recognizing our community’s young heroes. We hope everyone will rally behind this and all future campaigns!”
To accomplish this objective, the team at Smith Insurance Agencies is employing a three-pronged approach. First, they will engage their own network of clients, friends and business partners through social media and an email outreach campaign. Second, interested parties will be directed to a donations page where a fully detailed story will outline each cycle’s cause. And third, the agency’s monthly community magazine, Our Hometown, will use a full page to feature all Community Causes. The electronic version of the current issue spotlighting Capes4Heroes may be viewed at http://smithinsuranceagencies.com/magazines/.
To join Smith Insurance in ‘caping’ heroes to inspire and empower children, donors are invited to visit http://smithinsuranceagencies.com/community/ and are asked to share the page with their own circles of influence to help spread the word. “We’re truly passionate about strengthening our community and will do our best to mobilize support for those in need,” said Peggy Smith.
