SMS/800, Inc. Announce Changes in the Executive Management Team
(PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- The Board of Directors of SMS/800, Inc. is pleased to announce that Gina M. Perini has been named acting president and chief executive officer, effective immediately. Ms. Perini has been chief administrative officer and general counsel of SMS/800 since 2012.
Gary Sagnella, chairman of SMS/800’s nomination and governance committee of the board of directors, commented, “As we develop our plans for 2014 and beyond, now is the right time to name Gina as SMS/800’s president and CEO on an interim basis. The company is executing well and Gina has a deep understanding of our business and strategic priorities. We are confident that Gina is the ideal candidate to continue SMS/800’s positive momentum during this transition period.”
Mr. Sagnella added, “Having Gina step into the role of acting president and CEO allows us the time required to identify the best candidate to lead SMS/800’s next phase of growth. We plan to begin the search process for a permanent President and CEO once our proposed board expansion has been completed.”
Ms. Perini succeeds Thomas O. FitzGerald who left the company to pursue other opportunities.
Mr. Sagnella further commented, “On behalf of the board and everyone at SMS/800, I want to extend our appreciation for Tom FitzGerald’s leadership. We wish him well in his future endeavors.”
The company is also pleased to announce that William P. Carter has been named to the newly created position of chief operating officer, effective immediately. Mr. Carter, who has been the company’s chief technology officer since 2012, will be part of the company’s executive management team and oversee the day-to-day operations of the company.

Before serving in her capacity as chief administrative officer and general counsel of SMS/800, Inc., Ms. Perini was managing counsel at GTC Law Group LLP and Affiliates where she advised clients on business and global intellectual property matters in the technology, telecommunications, internet, new media, advertising and consumer product sectors. She has deep knowledge and experience in regulatory compliance, technology and licensing transactions, international privacy and data protection compliance. She also developed and led GTC's New Media practice group, an interdisciplinary practice combining strategic branding, privacy and internet law to support businesses in the digital economy. Prior to GTC, Gina was an Associate at Foley Hoag LLP in the business and intellectual property practice groups. Ms. Perini received her Juris Doctorate from Northeastern University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts from William Smith College.
About Mr. Carter:
Before serving in his capacity as chief technology officer of SMS/800, Inc., Mr. Carter served as Senior Vice President of Global Operations, Engineering and Software for Primus Telecommunications Group, Incorporated (PTGi), where he developed PTGi’s network and systems strategy and managed the technology merger related to the company’s acquisition of his previous firm Arbinet. Mr. Carter has also held various leadership roles in Network Management and Operations at MCI Telecom, Cable & Wireless and Premier Technologies. Mr. Carter received his Bachelor of Science in Technical Management from Keller University.
