Social Learning and Technology in the New Workplace Will Be The Focus of Harrington’s Talk With The Hudson-Mohawk Association for Talent Development
Albany, NY (PRWEB) August 17, 2015 -- On Friday, September 18th at 8:00am the Hudson-Mohawk Chapter of the Association for Talent Development (formerly American Society for Training and Development) will host Matt Harrington, author, trainer and speaker at an event that focuses on organizational learning and preparing for the new “social” worker.
Recognizing that learning is ever changing, especially in today’s technology-driven world, Hudson-Mohawk Association for Talent Development (HMATD) has put together this program for the Capital Region’s learning and talent professionals. The goal is to maximize understanding and first steps in developing a learning culture that supports and fosters various key aspects of “social learning.” Capital region businesses and professionals are encouraged to join speaker and social learning enthusiast Matt Harrington as he discusses the past, present, and future of social learning and social technologies in the workplace. The event will specifically focus on defining the attributes of social learning and distinguishing between formal and informal modes of learning, examining how social learning has developed over time, identifying social technologies and determining appropriate application, and finally, analyzing participant’s workplace culture and develop new learning solutions.
Social learning is the idea that we can learn as much through our social interactions with peers and colleagues via observation, conversations, and experimentation as we do with classic, formal learning solutions. Social learning in the workplace has become increasingly popular as the newest generation of workers enters the workplace wanting more social, informal ways of increasing their knowledge, and social technology has made it easier and faster to connect and learn.
