Social Solutions Congratulates Friends of the Children, Latest Winner of the Social Impact Exchange Business Plan Competition
Baltimore, MD; Portland, OR (PRWEB) June 20, 2014 -- Friends of the Children (FOTC), a client of Social Solutions Global, Inc. and user of Efforts to Outcomes (ETO®) software, was selected this week as a winner of the Social Impact Exchange’s 2014 Business Plan Competition at the Exchange’s 2014 Symposium on Scaling Impact.
The Business Plan Competition identifies social sector scaling initiatives with demonstrated impact and readiness to scale. FOTC was one of three finalists who presented their business plans and responded to questions about scaling and responded to questions about scaling their initiatives from a panel of expert judges and field leaders. As the winner, FOTC will receive a cash award and pro bono consulting services.
Portland-based FOTC serves very high-risk children through an individualized mentor program that follows children from kindergarten through high school graduation. FOTC’s mentors, of Friends, teach and role-model essential social, emotional and academic skills so that you graduate from high school, stay out of the justice system, avoid teen parenthood, and earn a living wage.
Over the next three years, FOTC plans to grow their national network to impact 7,500 children through a three pronged approach, which includes strengthening existing FOTC chapters to become regional demonstration sites; embedding the FOTC model within other youth-serving organizations; and expanding collaborative partnerships while sharing evidence and best practices.
“We congratulate Friends of the Children on this recognition from the Social Impact Exchange—it is very well deserved,” said Social Solutions CEO Scott Johnson. “It has been a privilege to support Friends of the Children in their work and we look forward to continuing our partnership with them as they work to scale their innovative program and deliver their mission to more youth.”
This recognition marks the third year since the competition began in 2010 that a member of the ETO software community (Juma Ventures, 2013; WINGS for Kids, 2010) has won the Exchange’s Business Plan competition. Every year, Social Solutions has been proud to see its customers apply and be invited to participate in the second round of the competition.
