Software Defined Networking (SDN) Solutions Showcase to be launched at Open Networking Summit (ONS) 2014
Menlo Park, CA (PRWEB) January 23, 2014 -- The SDN Solutions Showcase, an exciting series of interactive software-defined networking (SDN) exhibits, will make its debut at the fourth annual Open Networking Summit (ONS) – the premier SDN, OpenFlow, and network functions virtualization (NFV) conference. ONS2014 will be held March 3-5 at the Santa Clara Convention Center and Hyatt Regency in Santa Clara, Calif.
ONS is leading the transformation in networking by bringing together the extended ecosystem to advance the understanding of what is being deployed today and what the networks of the future will look like tomorrow.
The Showcase will highlight how open source technology can be integrated into multi-vendor SDN deployments in innovative ways.
The SDN Solutions Showcase will enable attendees to:
1) Experience SDN/OpenFlow solutions, applications, and deployments firsthand.
2) Interact with SDN/OpenFlow experts at seven interactive displays on the exhibit floor.
3) Learn about how SDN is being used to solve real problems in production networks today.
4) Interact with the Showcase via exhibit floor Wi-Fi network, in addition to wired connectivity to the booths.
Regardless of your area of interest – Carrier, WAN, Data Center or Enterprise – ONS2014 will have a SDN Solutions Showcase for you!
Carrier WAN
Carrier WAN Showcase will feature Internet2’s nationwide SDN backbone, which exemplifies the use of SDN to enable higher-order services and balance resources on demand. Internet2 has the first in-production, nationwide, transparent OpenFlow network in the world, supporting production traffic for more than 200 universities in the United States.
“The Internet2 Network is leading the effort to maximize the potential of SDN capabilities to enable a whole new generation of possibility for networks." said Rob Vietzke, Vice President Network Services, Internet2. "Technologies developed to meet the needs of the research and education community have a long history of transforming commercial networking and Internet2’s investment in SDN is enabling a new generation of innovation.”
Network Functions Virtualization
The OpenCloud project will demonstrate their leading-edge Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) solution, to showcase how they are using SDN to manage network resources while keeping assets accounted for and isolated.
"OpenCloud takes a first-principles approach to NFV, focusing on how scalable network services are composed rather than individual VMs are chained," said Larry Peterson, Chief Architect, Open Networking Laboratory.
Enterprise Networking
An Enterprise deployment of SDN will be presented using open-source OpenFlow controllers as well as OpenFlow capable switches and access points from several vendors to network the exhibit hall. Exhibitors and attendees will be able to access this network via exhibit floor Wi-Fi network, in addition to wired connectivity to the booths.
