MindMaps is an initiative of TestInsane as part of their open source contribution to software testers across the globe. Founded in 2014 and based in Bengaluru, India, TestInsane is a software testing company that specializes in Exploratory Software Testing services for websites and mobile apps. MindMaps, the brainchild of TestInsane, was conceptualized a year ago to be a part of their Free and Open Source Apps Initiative.
Readily available online, MindMaps is a repository where testers can find unlimited information on various topics related to software testing. These are uploaded as source files on the portal that not only can be downloaded but can be edited to anyone’s convenience. “It is a huge knowledge base for any budding and passionate tester or developer to learn and apply the best approaches, methods, test cases and new ways of thinking,” said Karthik Kini, Vice President, TestInsane and developer of Testing Mindmaps. “Whenever I read a MindMap I learn something new myself and I am sure anyone who refers to them will find something new and unexpected as well,” he added.
With numerous contributions from testers across the globe, MindMaps facilitates a forum for budding and established testers to exhibit expertise as well as learn new ones. “What had begun as just an idea about a year ago has now been recognized as a crucial incentive for testers. Our initiative has attracted over twenty-five contributors from around the globe and we have received
about hundred plus contributions from them,” said Santhosh Tuppad, Founder, TestInsane.

Mindmaps is believed to be a platform that enables tester-recognition. “One of the main considerations while developing Mindmaps, was to give due credit to contributors. We really want to highlight them and their efforts, giving as much information about them as they want to share,” stated Karthik Kini.
