Solacom Announces the Addition of Bruce Lazenby to its Board of Directors
(PRWEB) December 13, 2016 -- Solacom Technologies, a leading provider of Next Generation 9-1-1 solutions for public safety, today announced the appointment of Bruce Lazenby to its Board of Directors. Mr. Lazenby joins Solacom with over 30 years of experience in leadership, senior management, and growth of technology companies.
Prior to joining Solacom, Mr. Lazenby served as the Founding President and CEO of Invest Ottawa, where he designed and implemented job creation strategies, working with over 1000 technology start-ups to raise over $300m in venture capital and create over 4,700 jobs.
Under his stewardship, Invest Ottawa also created two Centres of Excellence for the Commercialization of Research, raised $30m in grants to build an Innovation Centre, and won a $9m grant to build a program to help start-ups.

Before Invest Ottawa, Bruce was Chairman of the Ottawa Software Cluster for six years and Vice President in Canada for Corum Group Ltd. – the world’s largest software M&A advisory firm. Bruce was also a Chair and executive coach with The Executive Committee – a global network of 15,000 chief executives in 16 countries.
Prior to that he held senior technology executive positions including six years as CEO with FreeBalance Inc., an enterprise software company where he raised millions of dollars in venture capital and debt financing, and helped grow the company by 300 per cent while moving into new international markets.
Mr. Lazenby graduated from the Royal Military College and the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College. During his 20 years’ service in the Royal Canadian Navy and Air Force, he managed the financial and accounting systems for the Department of National Defense worldwide. Before that, he was a Navy Diver and underwent jet pilot training prior to retiring as a Commander in the Logistics Corp. Amongst other locations, he served at sea, in United Nations peacekeeping missions and the Canadian Arctic.
