Solar Roofing is Featured on " Front Page " for Public Television, with Host James Earl Jones
(PRWEB) September 06, 2016 -- The award-winning team of videographers, writers and producers of the popular series Front Page is set to present an informative segment about solar roofing. Host James Earl Jones will introduce the piece that will discuss some of the social challenges accompanying recent technological advances within the solar industry.
Rising energy costs, concerns about pollution, and the necessity of conserving precious natural resources have all contributed to increased investment in solar technology. That investment has resulted in the development of building –integrated photovoltaics. (BIPV). Rather than adding separate solar panels to a roof, BIPV integrates the technology into roofs, windows or even walls.
A solar roof performs the dual function of protecting the building from the elements while generating electricity. It also reduces installation costs. Solar rooves are less susceptible to potential damage from extreme weather, and can even withstand winds over 160 miles per hour. Depending on the type of system, solar capacity can range from 3 to 120 kilowatts.
Scientists, researchers, and engineers believe that one day in the near future, it will be possible for solar roofs to not only power our homes, but produce a surplus of electricity. That surplus could be stored in a battery capable of charging an electric car as well as our laptops, phones, and other devices.
