Solcon Industries Introduces the First of its Kind IGBT Based Medium Voltage Soft Starter
March 20, 2014 (PRWEB) March 27, 2014 -- Solcon Industries, a world leader in the design and manufacture of Medium Voltage Soft Starters, will be introducing the new DriveStart at Hannover Messe 2014. The DriveStart is the first of its kind, IGBT based Medium Voltage Soft Starter, optimized for applications that require low starting current and/or a high starting torque. The cutting edge design results in significant savings in costs, energy and space while meeting high demand application requirements.
"Compared to a Medium Voltage Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), Solcon's new DriveStart provides Soft Start and Soft Stop features at a significantly lower price, with at least a 50% reduction in space requirements and a considerable decrease in energy waste and operational costs" says Mr. Ofir Goren CEO of Solcon. "Traditionally, a VFD is used even if its full functionality of motor speed and/or torque control during steady state operation is unnecessary. Our DriveStart was created specifically for these types of applications; our aim being to supply our customers with a product that alleviates the need to spend more than necessary on solutions that exceed their needs."
The DriveStart technical specification includes: Input voltage of up to 11kV and power ratings up to 3 MW, Mains Starting Current at 10% to 120% of motor rated current, starting torque up to 150% of motor rating, and starting capacity of 100% FLC for 600 seconds with a considerable number of starts. In addition, an integrated bypass system that uses a specialized synchronization system ensures little to no energy loss during operation, consequently reducing energy waste and operational costs.
