Soldiers' Angels Board of Directors Names Amy Palmer as its Next President & CEO
Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- Nationally known nonprofit, Soldiers’ Angels, announced today that Amy Palmer has been appointed as Soldiers’ Angels next President & CEO. Palmer is a leader in the military nonprofit environment and has been hailed as an expert on military family matters and veteran support.
Board Chairwoman and Soldiers’ Angels founder, Patti Patton-Bader, welcomed her by saying, “Amy had a remarkable career in leading a national military charity and we are extremely excited about her vision for taking Soldiers’ Angels to the next level.”
Palmer is the Co-Founder of Operation Homefront, one of the largest military charities in the country, and spent 12 years growing Operation Homefront from her garage to a multi-million dollar national charity. She has held many senior leadership positions, but served most recently as Operation Homefront’s Chief Development Officer. Among her many awards, she was the 2012 recipient of the Caring Award and inducted into the Caring Hall of Fame by Senators Bob Dole, and Tim Daschle.
Palmer was also recognized and featured on Lifetime Channel’s “Remarkable Women,’ a year-long series celebrating women who have inspired and empowered others to make a difference in their communities and throughout the world, including Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Sonia Sotomayor. Besides her feature on Lifetime Television, she has appeared on many other national television and radio shows to include Good Morning America, CBS Early Show, Fox and Friends, and Rush Limbaugh.
“As a disabled Air Force veteran myself, and the spouse of a retired Air Force officer who is also disabled, I understand the unique challenges of our service members, military families and disabled veterans,” said Palmer. “I am very excited to be joining the amazing team at Soldiers’ Angels and am looking forward to making it one of the most efficient and effective military charities in America.”
Committed to public service, she has volunteered many hours providing nonprofit consulting to charities and speaking to nonprofits and foundations on matters related to leadership, governance, fundraising and board development. She has also been a regular volunteer with Soldiers’ Angels which is what led her to become interested in the role. Palmer also serves on the Board of Directors for her church and volunteers many hours to charities focused on substance abuse issues.
