Soldiers' Angels Military and Veteran Adopt-A-Family Program Has Returned for 2016 Holiday Season
San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) September 22, 2016 -- The popular Soldiers’ Angels Adopt-A-Family program has returned for the 2016 holiday season. Through this unique annual program, sponsors can ‘adopt’ a military or veteran family for the holiday season. The sponsor will then provide gifts for the children as well as a grocery gift card or prepaid credit card for them to purchase their holiday dinner and trimmings. Full details on the program can be found at: http://www.soldiersangels.org/Adopt-A-Family
The goal in helping these military and veteran families is to show America’s gratitude for the sacrifices they have made in service to our country. Without the assistance of programs like the Adopt-A-Family program, many military and veteran families would go without any type of holiday celebration.
“The Adopt-A-Family program is a very unique opportunity for our sponsors to not only give back to our military, but also to connect one-on-one with an entire military family,” said Amy Palmer, President and CEO of Soldiers’ Angels. “The holidays can be particularly difficult for military families—especially those separated by deployment or who have been wounded, ill or injured. Through the generosity of our sponsors, these families are reminded that we are forever grateful for all they have done for us.”
The program is open to families of deployed service members and families of post 9-11 wounded, ill and injured service members. Selection for the program is need-based, as determined by Soldiers’ Angels representatives. Soldiers’ Angels will be registering 1,000 military and veteran families this holiday season.
Those interested in signing up to become a sponsor and adopt a family will need to join Soldiers’ Angels as a Team Angel first. By becoming a Team Angel, individuals will be able to not only adopt a military family for the holidays, but also adopt deployed service members, join the letter writing team, sewing team, baking team, or choose from any of the 12 volunteer teams that work year round to support military service members, their families, and the growing veteran population.
For individuals that may be interested in adopting a family but are unable to do so by themselves, this is a great opportunity to team-up with friends, family, co-workers, church groups, community groups, etc., and adopt a family together. Individuals can also make a monetary donation for the Adopt-A-Family Program through Soldiers’ Angels GoFundMe account at http://www.gofundme.com/SAAdoptAFamily2016.
Soldiers’ Angels also encourages businesses to consider participating in the event. Working directly with the staff at Soldiers’ Angels, businesses are able to adopt multiple families—making this a great holiday charity event for employees. Businesses interested in learning more about adopting multiple families should reach out to Jennifer Cernoch directly at: [email protected].
The program is now open for military family registration. Sponsors will be available to begin the “adoption” process on October 1, 2016.
