Solving the Challenges of Making Technology Friendly for Seniors
Bangor, Maine (PRWEB) October 26, 2016 -- Which of these two groups do you think the tech industry spends more time thinking about today: those younger than 65 or those 65 and older? The younger market of course. But by 2030, almost 20% of people in the United States will be over 65. This is about the same number of people as those who own an iPhone today – a very large and lucrative market.
The problem is that most technology professionals have very little understanding of how to design, build and test technology products for seniors, given the special requirements of older people. Some aspects, like using larger fonts, are obvious. But a great many others, from cognition to relationships, are far more subtle.
While there is a lot of information scattered in many of different places, until now there has been no comprehensive, well organized and up-to-date resource for helping technology professional design products for older adults. ElderTech.Org solves this problem by providing easy to use Best Practices for making technology senior friendly.
The Best Practices are designed to be used by hands-on engineers and developers, as well as user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) designers. Product managers can use them to evaluate their existing products. Product buyers can use them to evaluate prospective products.
