The patented design features a reversible spiral pet-sized staircase that can be extended to reach furniture, windows and beds that are as high as 40 inches, while maintaining a small, 18-inch radius – along with a customizable body that provides interchangeable safety rails to guide pets, upholstered tread pillows/cushions that reduce joint pain, and storage inside every step.
With SophiPet’s exclusive 3D configuration technology and Interchangeable Modular System (IMS), each staircase can be fully customize by colors, rail panels, upholstered tread cushions, tread frames, risers, and bun feet.
SophiPet Founder and CEO William Moore, who has design experience with full scale home staircases, developed the idea a few years ago when his wife asked him to build a set of dog stairs for her boss’s dog, Babe – who had sadly broken her back while jumping off a bed.
While developing the pet staircase, Moore discovered a shocking statistic about pets getting injured from jumping up to be with their owners.
“When I was researching the project, I found out there are many small-dog-loving people out there with their pets getting hurt from high beds and that, for a small dog, it's the equivalent of a person jumping from the roof of a one-story building,” he said. “Imagine doing that several times a day to be near the one you love.”
After Babe’s death, Moore said he decided to create a permanent solution to the problem with SophiPet.
“In addition to helping small dogs, and cats too, navigate high beds, chairs couches and window sills safely, SophiPet is also perfect for keeping older dogs safe when they jump -- or dogs with injuries or suffering from arthritis, joint pain, spinal problems or other diseases like diabetes and cancer,” Moore added.
The pet staircase comes in several versions: A Three-Step version at 18 inches high (to the top step), a Four-Step at 24 inches and a Five-step at 30 inches. Each has the same 18-inch radius and nine-inch step depth. Each SophiPet can comfortably accommodate small dog breeds of up to 25 pounds.
Made in the USA, SophiPet arrives 90 percent pre-assembled in a compact hide-away position.
