Sorrel Sky Gallery Presents Artist Workshop with Stephen Day
Durango, CO (PRWEB) February 17, 2015 -- Sorrel Sky Gallery will host a workshop with artist, Stephen Day on The Basics of Landscape Painting in Durango, Colorado on Friday, February 27 through Sunday, March 1. Participants will learn the basics of painting the western and southwestern landscapes with Day doing daily demonstrations.
Day is a full-time artist in New Mexico and primarily paints in oil. He is known for the big skies in his paintings and appreciates the embers of light that send a certain glow to these partly cloudy scenes. He captures a specific moment in time and enjoys portraying how this time of day is reflected on the landscape below. Day’s subjects are from life but the landscape is his first love. He says, “My work philosophy forces me to paint quickly to get a spontaneous and fresh response, because everything around us, including ourselves is in a constant state of change.”
Sorrel Sky Gallery's 3rd Annual Artists Workshop Series is scheduled over weekends to encourage artists to come and stay to the location and enjoy the experience of learning with a master and getting to know the arts community in both Durango and Santa Fe. For more information and to register for a workshop call (970) 247-3555. A complete listing of workshops is available at http://www.sorrelsky.com.
