South Bay Wellness Center of Sayville Introduces New Holistic Physical Therapy Program
Sayville, NY (PRWEB) February 19, 2014 -- The physical therapy offered at South Bay Wellness Center is a holistic style of physical therapy, started February of 2014. It is a program that is in complete alignment with the philosophy of the wellness center in that it takes into consideration the whole person, not just segments or parts of a person.
Physical therapy is a great addition to South Bay Wellness because it is aligned with the integrative health services model followed by the Center. As a holistic center, the focus is centered on mind, body, and emotional well-being. Addressing physical pain is a crucial component in achieving optimal wellness.
Many people who suffer with physical pain feel depressed, anxious, frustrated, irritable, lethargic, and unmotivated. This can greatly impede a person's ability to focus on personal goals & can negatively effect almost every aspect of a person's life including: work/career; mood and mental health; relationships with friends and family; productivity and energy levels; fitness and physical health; and ones ability to enjoy life in general.
Holistic physical therapy provided by Michelle Doxsee, Licensed Physical Therapist, can help to decrease pain, improve posture and alignment, restore flexibility, mobility and strength. It can also increase energy and endurance, and increase productivity. This, in turn, enhances a person's ability to achieve their emotional, fitness, nutritional goals, and ultimately to live the possible best life.
All treatment sessions provided by Michelle Doxsee last approximately 50 to 55 minutes and are one-to-one, this gives the client the undivided attention that they need to optimize recovery and return to a pain-free, active lifestyle.
Michelle begins the appointments with a full evaluation performed at the client's initial visit to determine which treatment program is most appropriate. Evaluations include a postural assessment, strength, range of motion testing, and assessment of soft tissue and joint integrity.
Each session after the initial evaluation predominantly consists of a variety of manual therapy techniques (depending upon the client's individual needs) including: Muscle Energy Techniques, Maitland and Mckenzie methods, Myofascial Release, Adverse Neural Tension Techniques, Joint Mobilization, Medical Massage, and Yoga-inspired therapeutic exercise programs.
Treatments are very relaxing, gentle, and effective. The results of treatment typically include: decreased pain; improved posture and alignment; increased energy and endurance; increased productivity; increased body awareness; and increased flexibility, mobility and strength. The ultimate goal is to teach the client to become independent in managing their pain, which enables the client to reclaim their own health.
Suffering with physical pain can negatively affect every aspect of a person's life and well-being. Therefore, utilizing holistic physical therapy to address physical pain and dysfunction is a very important aspect in achieving overall wellness. Michelle is very passionate about what she does.
