South Dakota Military Legal Alliance to Host Legal Clinic for All Servicemembers and Veterans

Hot Springs, South Dakota (PRWEB) September 13, 2016 -- The South Dakota Legal Alliance is hosting a free legal clinic for the state's Servicemembers, their Families and Veterans this Friday, September 16 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Hot Springs Domiciliary Auditorium located at 500 North 5th Street. Through volunteers of the South Dakota Bar Association, South Dakota Young Lawyers Division, University of South Dakota Law School and the VA Black Hills Veterans Justice Outreach, the Military community has a unique opportunity to meet onsite with legal professionals who can address and support their legal questions and needs for free.

The Military Legal Clinic is timely with the recent return of the 155th Engineer Company of the South Dakota National Guard and the upcoming deployment of the 153rd Engineer Battalion. "As Servicemembers return home, it is likely that they will first seek services and support from local resources, and we have found that legal clinics such as these can have such a significant impact on them and their Families. Even something as simple as understanding and explaining their federally-protected housing and employment rights can make a huge difference in helping these men and women readjust to life back home,” said Wenzel Cummings, Army OneSource State Community Support Coordinator and attorney.

The Military Legal Clinic will offer free on-site support for all Servicemembers, their Families and Veterans in South Dakota. Participants must hold a Department of Defense ID card. Registration is not required. The clinic is made possible by the South Dakota Legal Alliance, including Army OneSource, South Dakota Bar Association, South Dakota Young Lawyers Division, University of South Dakota Law School and the VA Black Hills Veterans Justice Outreach.
