Miami, Florida (PRWEB) July 25, 2013 -- Joel H. Brown, former Chief Judge of Florida’s 11th Judicial Circuit, recently joined the Miami law firm of Freidin, Dobrinsky, Brown & Rosenblum P.A.
Brown will practice all aspects of family law matters, with an emphasis on divorce, multi-state and international jurisdictional issues. His background in accounting coupled with his years of experience as Administrative Judge of the 11th Circuit Court Family Division allow him to focus his practice on the financial aspects of marriage dissolutions and business valuations. Brown is Florida Bar board certified in civil trial and also will handle general civil litigation, assisting personal injury and wrongful death victims in medical malpractice and product liability cases.
Joel H. Brown was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1971 and practiced as a civil trial attorney for 19 years until 1990, when former Florida Gov. Bob Martinez appointed him to the Miami-Dade County Court. Brown served as Associate Administrative Judge of the County Court, Criminal Traffic Division, and then as Administrative Judge of the County Court, Criminal Division. In 1994, Gov. Lawton Chiles appointed him to the Circuit Court of the 11th Judicial Circuit, where he served in various divisions with increasing levels of responsibility. He was named Administrative Judge of the Family Division from 2001 to 2009.
Brown was elected by his colleagues as 11th Circuit Chief Judge in 2009 and served in that capacity until joining Freidin, Dobrinsky, Brown & Rosenblum P.A. in April 2013.
Brown is a Florida native who grew up in Miami Beach. He majored in accounting and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida. He holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Florida School of Law. He brings more than 40 years of legal experience to the firm.
