Southern California Children’s Museum Hosts 'Chagall for Children' Exhibit
Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) January 25, 2015 -- Southern California Children’s Museum is ushering in the New Year with a new traveling exhibit opening this Sunday, January 25, 2015.
Chagall for Children, a creation of the Kohl Children’s Museum of Chicago, features reproductions of more than a dozen different Chagall masterpieces, accompanied by hands-on interactive elements that allow children to explore their own creativity. Animated paintings, flower arranging, puzzles that turn into paintings, giant looms, outsized mosaics and a collection of books on Chagall help kids explore Chagall’s whimsical world of art through play.
“Chagall is really known for his whimsical approach to art. This exhibit does a wonderful job of pairing his paintings with hands-on activities that capture a child’s imagination and let them make the art their own,” says Catherine Welch, founder and president of the Museum. “We couldn’t be more excited to bring the Chagall for Children’s exhibit here to Pasadena. It fully supports our museum’s mission of motivating learning through interactive exhibits, creative experiences and dramatic play.”
These imaginative exhibits are as varied as Chagall’s works. A fabric rendition of Chagall’s “The Rooster” lets children rearrange the bird’s colorful tail feathers. A bas-relief of “The Birthday” allows visitors to make rubbings of the artwork to take home. “The Poultry Yard” offers various soft-sculpture animal parts that children can mix and match to create their own fantastical animals.
This unique exhibit was created by Kohl Children’s Museum in 1996. Chagall’s fantastic imagination makes his artwork relatable to both young and old, and this travelling exhibit has been in demand in some of the most notable children’s museums from Los Angeles to Miami since its creation.
