Sovereign sees rise in holidays to The Canary Islands in September

Data provided by Spanish Airports and Air Navigation (AENA) shows The Canaries welcomed 784,475 visitors for the month, an increase of nearly 5% in travellers compared to the same month last year.
In September, Tenerife saw an increase of 3.58% in visitors, while Gran Canaria and Lanzarote witnessed a growth of 8.69% and 7.6% in travellers respectively. The Canaries have also reported strong figures for the whole of 2013, with the first nine months recording a 1.74% increase in visitors for the same period in 2012. Ricardo Fernandez de la Puente Armas, The Regional Vice-counsel of Tourism, expects this trend to continue through the winter season whilst highlighting the growing number of visitors from the UK.
