Spanish Interface Translation Integrated Into DeskAlerts Service
(PRWEB) February 24, 2015 -- The internal communications provider is galvanizing its global reach with the integration of a Spanish interface into its service. Preceded only by Chinese, Spanish is the native tongue of 470 million people across the globe, making it the second most popular language on the planet. DeskAlerts is anticipating that the roll out of Spanish will help its global portfolio of organizations get the most out of its service and offer Spanish speaking employees an authentic digital experience.
Now available to DeskAlerts users upgrading to version 7.1.2 or later, the globalization friendly feature allows users to navigate the interface in their native language. The upgrade follows the introduction of French and Russian as interface translation options and is set to be an invaluable tool for companies employing Spanish-speaking content publishers. At its core, the new option is designed to make DeskAlerts easier, faster and more natural to use for the world’s hundreds of millions of Spanish speaking employees.
Anton Vdovin, DeskAlerts Project Manager explains, “The ability to navigate the interface in their native language gives Spanish speaking users a significantly enhanced DeskAlerts experience. Even for the most fluent of English speakers, the option of processing information in Spanish has the potential to seriously boost workplace productivity and ensure that communication is quick, accurate and hard hitting.”
Also known as Castilian, Spanish is spoken as a first or second language by an estimated 548 million people. Furthermore, 20 million students are currently studying Spanish as a foreign language. Thanks to its global reach, the Romance language is one of six official United Nations languages as well as an official language of the European Union, the Organization of American States, the Union of South American Nations and a myriad of other international bodies. Globally, the Cervantes Institute revealed that Spanish is the third most used internet language, second only to English and Chinese.
The USA is particularly partial to Spanish, with over 37 million Americans using it as their default household language. With just 11 million Spanish speakers recorded in 1980, this makes it a rapidly expanding dialect that has undergone growth of 233% over the past 35 years. The UK also hosts a growing nation of Spanish speakers, with 8% of the population citing themselves as fluent.
Spanish has rapidly infiltrated the world’s population and according to linguistic experts, it’s not set to slow down anytime soon. As cited in a 2011 paper commissioned by the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of US Spanish speakers will continue to expand. Demographers Jennifer Ortman and Hyon B. Shin predict that by 2020 the nation will be home to up to 43 million speakers. The US isn’t the only country embracing Spanish, with worldwide non-profit organization the Cervantes Institute maintaining that demand is booming in the Asia-Pacific region. While in 2000 there were just 1,500 university students studying Spanish, 2014 saw this figure grow to a huge 25,000.
Vdovin explains, “Spanish is no longer primarily spoken in Spain. In fact, today Spain hosts just 10% of the world’s Spanish speaking population. As a result of immigration, population growth and study programs we’re now seeing the Spanish adopted as a primary language in households across the globe.”
With an ever increasing number of companies expanding into the international market, the DeskAlerts Spanish interface is destined for immediate success. The flexibility to offer Spanish speaking employees the option of using the service in their native language will play an important role in enhancing employee communications and ensuring that all messages are received and actioned as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Activating the Spanish interface takes a matter of seconds. Publishers simply log in to their DeskAlerts account, set the interface language to Spanish and enjoy a fully customized corporate communications solution.
Current companies set to benefit from the upgrade to 7.1.2 or later DeskAlerts software include Hapag Lloyd, which operates offices in over 130 countries, BP, which operates in over 80 countries and Hilton Worldwide, which employees a diverse staff base made up of English, Spanish, Russian and French speakers.
