Spec-Rite Designs Provides Gecko™ Wall Systems for The New Walmart in Washington D.C.
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) January 09, 2014 -- Spec-Rite Designs, a global designer, manufacturer and distributor of phenolic furnishings, recently supplied the innovative new wall cladding system, Gecko DL™, to the Nation’s first mixed-use urban style Walmart in the Washington D.C. area. Gecko DL™ is one of four Gecko™ Wall Systems products offered exclusively by Spec-Rite Designs, in which the wall panels are individually demountable and constructed from solid phenolic.
The 83,000 sq. ft. mixed-use urban style "Gonzaga" store officially opened on December 4, 2013 and is located at 1st Street and H Street. The new Walmart store offers a larger selection of groceries than a typical Walmart and also features four stories of residential space containing 303 apartments.
“Walmart’s architecture team chose to use Gecko DL™ wall cladding because of the reputation the Gecko™ Wall System product lines have in the industry,” said Steve Kistner, general manager of Spec-Rite Designs. “The durability, vibrant colors and its ability to achieve the concave and convex angled wall display, made it an ideal fit for the first Walmart of its kind in the Nation.”
Gecko DL™ and was used with Silver Grey Trespa Virtuon panels to create a clean, modern design surrounding the elevator corridor. Trespa’s Royal, Cobalt and Dark Blue panels were utilized as a backdrop to the familiar Walmart logo creating a multi-colored feature wall with uniform reveals.
All of the Gecko Wall System™ product lines offered by Spec-Rite Designs are GREENGUARD™ certified and fabricated using solid phenolic panels, making them impact, scratch, and graffiti resistant. The panels are known for saving the end users 40% or more on installation costs due to the ease of installation of Gecko products.
