Grand Rapids, Michigan (PRWEB) July 06, 2017 -- Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing is now available in the City of Wyoming, and the Lean & Green Michigan program has committed to bringing it to other Kent County cities as soon as a viable project is in place in any of them. This event will provide information detailing how to use this new financing option for upgrading the energy efficiency of commercial, industrial, multi-family and non-profit buildings.
U.S. buildings are, on average, over 50 years old and typically waste more than 30% of consumed energy. The required capital for energy efficiency, water conservation and renewable energy projects is a major deterrent to going forward with these upgrades. Using the same mechanism that funds streets, sidewalks, sewers and other community projects, PACE makes these upgrades financially “doable”. This financing option can be applied to all systems supporting those upgrades including lighting, HVAC, roofing, insulation, windows and other building envelope improvements.
For communities such as Grand Rapids, which recently became a 2030 District with the goal of reducing energy use 50% by 2030, PACE is one of the most attractive financing vehicles to make this goal achievable. It answers the question “how are we going to pay for it?"
Speakers and topics:
ANDY LEVIN, President Lean & Green Michigan: What PACE is, how it works and the key features and benefits. Also, the role of the PACE administrator and Lean & Green Michigan’s approach to developing the Michigan PACE market.
KYLE PECZYNSKI, Petros PACE Finance: Project underwriting criteria and how to initiate the PACE process. Also, how much capital is available for commercial PACE projects nationally.
JEFF DOMBROWSKI, Property Developer: The overall impact of PACE on property development, how it enables going above and beyond what traditional financing typically allows in terms of energy efficiency. Review of the Keeler building project’s planned energy efficiency upgrades and their economic impact. Discuss the role PACE can play in LEED certification.
CURT MONHART, The Energy Alliance Group of Michigan: The roles and responsibilities of a PACE project developer; ideal candidates for PACE funded upgrades and how to initiate a PACE project.
