Specialist insurance broker Footman James supports UK National Classic Car Day
West Midlands, Unitd Kingdom (PRWEB UK) 10 April 2014 -- Staff at West Midlands based Footman James supported the initiative to show off their classic cars, following the announcement by BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans on his breakfast radio show on Monday 24 March.
The idea behind it was that anyone who owns a classic car should get it out for the commute to work, offering friends and colleagues a lift with the caveat that they make a donation to the BBC Children in Need charity.
Andy Fairchild, Footman James’ Managing Director said, “We thoroughly support such initiatives which bring classic cars out into the public arena. Many of our employees are classic car enthusiasts themselves so what better way to show them off by supporting such a fantastic idea!”
Chris Evans is well known for his love of cars, especially the classic variety. In typical Evans style, there were no rules for National Classic Car Day!
Andy Fairchild felt that the combination of classic cars and donating money to the Children in Need charity showed the charitable spirit that runs deep in the classic car industry and in Footman James. “Our staff were proud to show off their pride and joys and support such a worthwhile charity was the icing on the cake!”
The classic cars that enjoyed the open road into Footman James’ headquarters in Cradley Heath that morning included:
• Mable, a Rover Mini Cooper, 1.3 fuel injected. Red with a Union Jack on the roof, Mable originally sported a K plate from 1993 and is now Q714 VOJ. Stolen and recovered, Mable is much loved by her owner Paige Flavell-Wood.
• Bertie is proudly owned by Lee Fowkes, which he has owned for 20 years. Bertie was his first car. A Zenith Blue 1968 VW Beetle, it had the original number plate – LEE 511F – that attracted Lee to the car. Bertie’s plate is now UWP 130F.
• Kermit – a Java Green Austin Mini 1000 form 1979 – is owned by Anthony Hall.
