Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) December 30, 2013 -- Spence-Chapin’s Adoption Services is pleased to announce the opening of its Modern Family Center (MFC) in Brooklyn.
The new family support center at Plaza Wellness, 36 Plaza Street, Brooklyn, will be a place for the building and strengthening of today’s families and will serve all members of the modern family community – adoptive parents, birth parents, and adoptees, as well as LGBT parents, single parents, ART families and blended families.
MFC will offer counseling, parent coaching, support groups, youth programming, personal adoption histories, educational workshops, and adoption preparation and home study services.
Spence-Chapin’s unique expertise of family building helps each family member navigate their individual stories with clarity and confidence. Licensed, trained social workers are committed to the success of all families. “We’re providing high-quality services during flexible hours,” said Stella Gilgur-Cook, LMSW, Director of the MFC at Spence-Chapin. “The Manhattan office has served families for over 20 years. We are pleased to be able to now offer our services in Brooklyn.”
Ms. Gilgur-Cook added, “MFC provides a safe and supportive community where every person can discover a better understanding of themselves, and every family can get the help they need to heal.”
Spence-Chapin is a full-service adoption agency bringing over 100 years of experience to a new mission: creating permanent, loving families for children most in need - older children, siblings and children with special needs. We are growing the pool of willing adoptive parents by lowering the financial barriers to adoption. We are educating families as they consider adoption and reducing the fears that can overwhelm the process. Through the Modern Family Center, Spence-Chapin is helping each family member navigate their individual adoption stories with clarity and confidence.
