Spiffy Press Custom Designs Letterpress Wedding Invitation for Kate Bosworth, Featured in Martha Stewart Weddings
Santa Barbara, CA (PRWEB) January 04, 2014 -- Spiffy Press, a graphic design and letterpress printing studio that focuses on custom design, created a letterpress wedding invitation for celebrity couple, Kate Bosworth and Michael Polish. The invitation, designed and printed early last year, waited for a public debut in Martha Stewart Weddings’ Winter 2014 issue.
The couple requested an invitation suite with a “country rustic, yet chic and elegant look.” The de-bossed outline of the state of Montana creates a simple frame for the clean and traditional look the couple sought. The Montana state outline is repeated in the RSVP card and inner envelope.
“Blending traditional and unconventional design elements creates a modern look for every project,” said Scott Wallin, Owner and Designer/Printer at Spiffy Press. “Each project starts with the couple’s personality and style. I mix design elements based on their input and my research to create an invitation that can only represent the couple. Something you can’t get with off-the-shelf invitations.”
“Conceptually, the invitation looks like it could have been created in the late 1800s just as readily as today,” shared Wallin. “This aspect made the ideal tie-in for the Martha Stewart-created accessories and favors throughout the weekend.”
“One of my favorite details is the custom stamp to complete the look,” shared Wallin. “Since the state of Montana is deeply personal to the couple, I made the 41st star on the American flag yellow. It’s a tiny detail you might miss if you don’t know to look for it, but these little facts make the invitation one of a kind.”
Wallin printed the invitation suite on a Vandercook 219 letterpress. He used Crane’s Lettra 100% cotton paper, which is comfortable to the touch. The 110lb. stock lends itself to the crisp, modern feel the couple sought. The complete ensemble includes: panel invitation with inner envelope, RSVP card with envelope, and outer envelope.
