A project by Nytro Labs, a tight-knit group of friends who share a passion for problem solving and good design (who are also seasoned product design professionals with decades of combined experience in design, engineering, manufacturing and distribution), SPIN remedies a common problem faced by those who embrace a connected lifestyle.

You would think with how far we've come with smartphones and the explosive growth in the audio space that this wouldn't be an issue. For some, Bluetooth is an answer, but we prefer the reliability and ease of a wired headset, so we set out to solve the tangle problem in an elegant way," said Kevin Brennan, Nytro Labs co-founder. SPIN features 9.2mm drivers custom-tuned to deliver a balanced sound experience, capturing heart-thumping lows along with clear, crisp highs. An omni-directional microphone with noise reduction results in crystal clear phone calls.
At the heart of SPIN is a unique dual spool system engineered by Nytro Labs from the ground up. While most retraction devices require the jack and headset cable to be extended at the same time, often creating more tangle and frustration if not pulled perfectly, SPIN’s dual spool system manages the headset cable and 3.5mm jack cable separately, allowing for each side to extend independently of the other. With SPIN, sound is transferred via spring contacts and a printed circuit board (PCB), ensuring your call or music continues to sound great whether SPIN is retracting or locked in place.
Drawing inspiration from the case that holds Apple EarPods, SPIN takes this basic, rounded-edge square form and elevates it with an aerospace-quality aluminum build. All of SPIN’s components nest neatly into dedicated channels when retracted, creating a lightweight, travel-friendly product that is expected to weigh in at 80 grams in final form.
SPIN is working towards a $125,000 funding goal on Kickstarter to support the next phase of its development process, which has already involved significant investment from the Nytro Labs team. The 35-day campaign includes rewards for backers starting at the $79 pledge level for the first SPIN units off the production line, which represents a significant savings off of SPIN’s estimated $125 SRP. In addition to the core black, silver and gold colorways, SPIN will also be offered in a Kickstarter exclusive red serialized colorway limited to 500 units.
Following the successful close of the Kickstarter campaign, SPIN will be readied for commercial production, allowing the team to finalize the design and mechanism, confirm secondary suppliers, begin tooling and set up quality assurance/reliability tests in preparation for mass production.
