Spine Team Texas Welcomes Physician to Newest Location in Fort Worth-Alliance
Southlake, TX (PRWEB) October 02, 2013 -- Spine Team Texas, a leader in comprehensive back and neck pain care, is pleased to announce the addition of Thurston McMillen, M.D., to their team of spine-focused physicians. He joins Juan Bartolomei, M.D., neurosurgeon and founding partner of the Southlake-based practice, and partner Ryan Reeves, M.D., a fellowship-trained physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR) physician, to now offer full-time presence in the Fort Worth-Alliance office.
Dr. Thurston McMillen, who joins Spine Team Texas this month, complements Spine Team Texas’ conservative approach to spine care as a physiatrist (physical medicine and rehabilitation) specializing in the non-surgical pain relief of spinal disorders and related musculoskeletal dysfunction. “Dr. McMillen is a great asset to our team,” said Dr. Bartolomei, “and comes to us with high recommendations and remarkable credentials. We know the community will benefit from his experience in providing conservative treatment for neck, back, and spine-related musculoskeletal disorders.”
Dr. McMillen is a fellowship-trained physiatrist (PMR). His focus is on the diagnosis of spinal problems through diagnostic studies, called electromyography or nerve conduction studies, that assist to determine the root cause and severity, which guides the comprehensive team on the patient’s spine treatment. Dr. McMillen’s expertise is focused on the nonsurgical approach to spine pain whenever possible to avoid spine surgery unless medically necessary or the nonsurgical management has failed to provide long-term spine pain relief.

Dr. McMillen completed his fellowship in Interventional Sports and Spine at Florida Spine Institute in Clearwater, Florida. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital in Wheaton, Illinois, and earned his medical degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, after completing undergraduate studies at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. As a Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist, he has a special interest in how exercise and nutrition contribute to overall health and well-being.
