Sport.co.uk follows Murray as he smashes into the Quarter-finals of the Australian Open
(PRWEB UK) 21 January 2014 -- Andy Murray has surprised many with how well he has played at the Australian Open, dropping only one set on the way to his quarter-final appearance against a certain Roger Federer. Digital Sports Group say the coming encounter with Federer is already sending their fans into a frenzy.
The first Grand Slam of the season wasn't expected to be one featuring Andy Murray even close to his best but the Scot has surprised many on his way to the quarter-finals dropping only one set on his way. The route to the final however could not be more difficult even with Djokovic losing to Stanislas Wawrinka in his match. Should Murray beat Federer he will then face world number one, Nadal, in the Semi-final.

The tournament has thrown up plenty of surprises, not least the good form of Murray with the exits of Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova in the women’s competition and now Djokovic in the men’s. Murray was not happy to drop a set and took his frustrations out on his own racquet before easily taking the fourth set.

Jason Hope, Content Manager of DSG believes that Andy Murray should progress but that Nadal must be clear favourite. "It’s great to see Murray playing well after his operation and despite Federer playing better than he did in 2013 which saw him slip the sixth in the rankings I would expect Murray to progress. That said it only gets tougher and you have to say Nadal will now be expected to take the title barring injury with perhaps his most dangerous foe failing to beat Wawrinka.”
