Spot-On, an “I Spy” Inspired App, Officially Launches on the App Store
Montreal, Quebec (PRWEB) January 16, 2015 -- Spot-On, the new celebrity “I Spy” inspired app game played with friends, today officially launched on the App Store. Players can now test their talent for spotting famous people, places and things on their iOS devices.
Earlier this month, Spot-On was selected as a finalist for best App at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
“The app was very well received at CES and it was an honor to be chosen as a finalist in competition with so many other innovative apps,” said Spot-On app creator Olivia Li. “We’re really excited to officially launch Spot-On so people can enjoy a different kind of casual game that improves observational and typing skills, while challenging friends on what or who they know in common.”
Spot-On allows players to put their pop culture knowledge to the test by typing what they spot and comparing results with friends. Users are rewarded for matching words with their game partner. They also earn gems to buy boosters.
“New levels and rewards, with collectible badges are already in the works,” adds Li. “There is definitely an unfair advantage for early players to stack up on their points and gems, but that’s ok.”
When a user starts the game, they are shown photos to test their expertise in different categories (movies, TV, musicians, sports stars, etc). Users are then paired with like-minded players in the different celebrity categories. Players identify as many things as possible in photos, and the best spotter wins.
Spot-On, one of SPOTR's Apps, is designed to improve our collective knowledge, by leveraging the human capacity to identify what's interesting in a picture, and develop a vocabulary through visual semantics (i.e. "a picture is worth a thousand words") to improve how people can discover images that inspire and connect through shared emotions and humor - things that machines don't do well.
Users can discover common ground with fellow players, while improving their observational skills and learning to focus on visual details.
Spot-On is currently available for free on the App Store and will soon be available for Android. Spot-On is ad-free and no subscription is required.
