SpotMyRide Automotive App Expands Social Features with the Addition of SpotFeed, Following and Voting Capabilities
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- Recently launched SpotMyRide is an exciting new social app for auto enthusiasts. The app allows users to post auto pictures, share photos from road trips, car shows, and other events. Photos are organized by vehicle make and model making it simple for users to find pictures of interest, and to easily share these pictures via Facebook or Twitter.
Launched just a few months ago on iTunes App Store, SpotMyRide has enjoyed thousands of downloads from over 30 countries, and a vast outpouring of interest within the automotive-enthusiast community. And now, SpotMyRide is releasing an updated app with improvements including the new SpotFeed feature, which steams pictures in one of four categories. “Spots,” the replacement for the app’s default Home screen, allows larger photos, easier navigation. SpotMyRide product manager Amr Dundarawy says “Users told us they wanted a better landing screen once they open the app, one that serves them content immediately, so that’s what we created.”
SpotFeed shows up to 100 spots in a continuous stream, allowing users to browse and navigate multiple pictures of the same ride using a simple swipe. SpotFeed users can set it to view the most recent spots, spots by those they follow, their own spots, or nearby spots. Users see key information about make, model, and location, as well as newly added information about the number of comments, and a vote tally on each spot. “We removed any cluttering design elements from photos, because our goal is simply serving up cool, fascinating auto and bike pictures,” Dundarawy states.
And, speaking of votes, a new voting function lets users give a thumbs up or down to any rides they like or dislike. Also new: SpotMyRide allows users to follow friends and spotters. Dundarawy notes that “Social functions like following and voting were desired strongly by users, so we were happy to add these features to our app.”
Plus, SpotMyRide is serving up a cleaner interface, with bug fixes that offer solid “under the hood” improvements that will keep users’ virtual engines humming. The app now supports iOS7, and plans more enhancements in the near future.
