SpotOn™ Announces Digital Content Partnership Program
Columbus, OH (PRWEB) February 16, 2016 -- Today, SpotOn, a free online database which provides evaluations of K-12 digital content, announced the launch of the SpotOn Digital Content Partnership Program. The Partnership Program is modeled after a pilot program that delivered content selection support and professional learning opportunities for educators. The Partnership Program provides up to $50,000 in matching funds to selected school districts to assist with content selection decisions and professional learning opportunities that focus on the evaluation of digital content. Through this partnership, participating school districts will have their selected content reviewed using SpotOn’s academically validated rubric developed by researchers at The Ohio State University. Partnership reviews will be available district wide through http://www.SpotOnReviews.org.
Districts participating in the program will have the opportunity to work with the SpotOn team to select digital content for review and will take part in professional learning opportunities focused on using the SpotOn rubric to evaluate digital instructional resources. District participants will be selected through a SpotOn’ competitive screening and application process. Participating educators will build capacity and knowledge in the selection and review of digital resources, supporting their path toward technology leadership. District administrators interested in participating can find complete information and an application at http://www.SpotOnReviews.org/matching.
SpotOn seeks to help classroom teachers, administrators, curriculum supervisors, and other education stakeholders make effective digital content decisions by using the SpotOn database. Previously, SpotOn worked with five Ohio school districts to provide professional learning opportunities for teachers to become Digital Review Specialists. These digital leaders then reviewed 300 products up for adoption consideration. These reviews can now be found at http://www.SpotOnReviews.org.
John Kellogg, Superintendent of Westerville City Schools, one of the district superintendents who participated in the pilot noted, “Having the SpotOn database of digital curriculum reviews just trims down the amount of time we have to spend searching. We can go to SpotOn instantly and start to say, ‘Is this going to fit our local needs?’”
Expanding on the pilot program, SpotOn is seeking partnerships with school districts throughout the United States Districts participating in the Partnership Program will receive comprehensive, accessible, and academically validated reviews of content they are considering for use—allowing them to easily select digital resources that best meet their instructional requirements and the learning needs of their students.
SpotOn has leveraged the expertise of The Ohio State University’s College of Education and Human Ecology to create an immersive professional learning program focused on evaluating digital content. SpotOn plays an important role in advancing the College’s agenda of preparing teachers for today’s classrooms.
SpotOn’s Managing Director, Dwayne Sattler, commented, “The five pilot districts we worked with in Ohio appreciated that we were able to review the content they wanted, while training their educators for the future. The Digital Content Partnership Program will allow us to expand this program nationally and provide a great service to participating districts.”
