Spread the word: 'America Recycles Day' is November 15th
Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) November 13, 2014 -- On America Recycles Day and every day, prAna weaves recycling into its stylish apparel and accessories, re-using materials from polyester, to wool, cotton, and hemp.
“America Recycles Day is all about increasing awareness and celebrating recycling in the United States,” said prAna’s Director of Sustainability, Nicole Bassett. “Recycling is something we celebrate at prAna because giving materials new life is one of the many powerful alternatives we’ve found as we make clothing with conscience.”
In the Early Winter Collection, recycled polyester leads the way, appearing in a wide range of products including the popular men’s Sutra pant. Recycled cotton and recycled hemp tend to be tougher and more durable, making them ideal for bags and accessories like the June Yoga Tote. And you can find recycled wool in comfy fall and winter styles like the Lucia sweater.
“By re-using fibers like polyester, we can cut out the energy used and toxins produced by manufacturing virgin materials in the first place,” said Bassett. “At prAna, we’ve doubled the use of recycled materials from this time last year and now we’re looking for even more opportunities, like finding new ways to use recycled cotton.”
America Recycles Day is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to encouraging Americans to recycle and choose recycled products. Started by the National Recycling Coalition in 1997, it is celebrated annually on November 15. Since 2009, it has been a program of the national non-profit Keep America Beautiful and includes events, the “I recycle” pledge, and information about recycling in your area. Join the conversation using #AmericaRecyclesDay.
