Springboard Announces Enhanced Homebuyer Education Platform for New and Returning Borrowers
(PRWEB) July 02, 2015 -- Homeownership is a big subject, and Springboard Nonprofit Consumer Credit Management, Inc. (“Springboard”) works hard to help prospective borrowers get the help they need, regardless of where they are in the process of owning a home. In response to the growing interest in pre-purchase education, Springboard is pleased to announce the launch of its innovative online homebuyer education platform for new and returning borrowers. The comprehensive course thoroughly covers each step of the home buying process from managing personal finances to education on the home buying experience and ultimately preparation and planning for homeownership success. Prospective borrowers may complete this self-study course in the convenience of their own home at their own pace. A Certificate of completion that fulfills the education requirements for certain loan and assistance programs (sometimes referred to as First Time Homebuyer) is provided at the conclusion of the course. The course is available in both English and Spanish which can be started by visiting our website http://www.homeownership.org and selecting the Homebuyer Education icon.
A 2013 study by NeighborWorks America, a community development agency, found that pre-purchase education significantly lowered default rates. The overwhelming majority of adults continue to view homeownership as a worthwhile goal. Springboard anticipates that their enhanced platform, which now features one-on-one financial counseling and a personalized action plan, will meet the needs of new and returning homeowners.
“Our desire is to provide prospective borrowers with all the education necessary to become a successful home owner,” said Melinda Opperman, Springboard’s senior vice president. “We offer a thorough curriculum that covers all the nuts and bolts of the home buying process. There is so much more to becoming a homeowner than simply shopping for a home.”
Springboard’s homebuyer education course is available 24/7 and is accessible nationwide. A Certificate of completion will be issued to all prospective borrowers who successfully complete the course, which includes a pre and post-test that corresponds with each subject. The course will follow with one-on-one financial counseling conducted by a Springboard financial counselor.
