“We knew there was a better solution for people who are on their feet all day,” said SpringFlex CEO David Krafsur. “There were spring-enhanced shoes on the market, but we wanted to take that technology further and give them a shoe that actively worked to fight off fatigue and pain.”
The company did that by not using just one spring in the sole of their shoes, but two. They placed the dual springs at the impact points of the foot: the heel and the ball of the foot. The coil decreases the impact of each step while returning energy to the foot with each step. This alleviates foot pain and the aching lower back experienced by those who are on their feet all day.
“We’d perfected the function of the shoe, making them unbelievably comfortable to wear,” said Krafsur. “Then we wanted to perfect the form, making them look good as well, to create a shoe that was the total package of form and function.”
SpringFlex had a goal of creating a shoe that didn’t betray the technology inside, and created shoes that look great and aren’t immediately identified as a “medical” or “mechanical” shoe. They focused on created both aspects of the shoe, the form and the function, to create what they believe is the best spring loaded shoe on the market.
“We started with a shoe for women, because we heard from so many moms and retirees that they needed a shoe that could keep up with their active lifestyle without making their feet ache by the end of the day,” Krafsur said. “When that proved to be so popular, we expanded to a men’s shoe as well.”
