Spy Kitten ‘Eli’ Goes on Missions in Exciting New Youth Novel
SPRUCE GROVE, Alberta (PRWEB) June 26, 2015 -- Sherralee Tinney puts a new spin on the cat versus dog dynamic with her children’s novel, a rhyming tale following the kitten “Eli” (published by Xlibris) as he protects Catland from canines and encounters the creatures who bully his people for the first time. By mixing fantasy and adventure, she shows how bullying must be stopped and how adopting a “pay-it-forward” attitude can be more effective than using force.
“Eli” is on a mission to locate the dogs that have infiltrated his pristine Catland and report them to the Monarch’s army. It sounds simple, since every cat is born with abilities bestowed by the Cat Above, such as night vision and stealth. The young feline has never seen a dog before, though, because he comes from a land of cats ruled by Mother Nature, Father Time and their four offspring – Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. The divine eco-rulers love peace and harmony, having everything work together in symbiosis, but the dogs pose a unique threat because even trolls and wild hogs Catland contends with cannot compare to the chaos which they are capable of.
The kitten faces a multitude of life-threatening situations while his siblings work together with the Monarch’s army in expelling the trespassers. As Eli faces the dogs, he begins to realize a simple concept that he and all of Catland’s citizens have taken for granted – that acts of cruelty are outrageous, whereas acts of kindness are contagious. Armed with this knowledge, readers will see just what one tiny frightened kitten can do when faced with a large pack of ferocious cat-eating dogs and their massive fire-breathing dragon.
“Eli” gives pet-lovers and fans of felines in particular a treat while conveying an important anti-bullying theme to young readers through catchy rhyming dialogue, a plot rich with elements of fantasy and adventure and the sheer pluck of its young protagonist.
