Squeezable Skyline Launch Gives Everyone a New Way To Show Their City Pride
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 08, 2014 -- Three brothers and an architect walk into a bar... this may sound like the start of a bad joke, but it’s actually how this Chicago startup was born. Squeezable Skyline (http://squeezableskyline.com) is creating a collection of plush skyscrapers inspired by America’s most iconic tall buildings and has launched with “Squeezable” designs for Willis Tower in Chicago and Empire State Building in New York.
“We love our city and know many other people feel the same way, so we wanted to create something that allows everyone to bring a part of their city home with them,” said Michael Gordon, Chief Architect. This sentiment inspired the “Huggable Highrise” as the creators set out to design a product that not only paid homage to the iconic towers, but it also gave people the opportunity to interact with the skyscrapers in a fun way. The Squeezables are made for anyone who appreciates tall buildings - both children and adults alike.
The Squeezables are a simplified massing of the real buildings they represent and are designed at a relative scale to resemble an accurate skyline as you build your collection. Just as important as the design, the product was created with quality in mind. Squeezable Skyline’s manufacturing partner is an American plush toy company with overseas production facilities and the Squeezables meet all United States safety and regulatory requirements. “We want the Squeezables to be cool enough to serve as a design object but also be a fun toy for children to enjoy. During testing with my one-year-old son, the Squeezables have proven they can take a beating!” said Gordon.
Squeezable Skyline’s first two Squeezables represent two of the most iconic skyscrapers in America. For many years the tallest building in the world, Willis Tower in Chicago still dominates the skyline. While one might not be able to fit a 1730 foot building in a shopping bag, the Willis Tower Squeezable is travel friendly at 22 inches tall and 1.4 pounds. The Empire State Building has stood proudly over the New York skyline for the last eight decades and is considered by many as the icon of American skyscrapers. While the real building might only fit in King Kong's hand, the Empire State Building Squeezable can comfortably fit in yours at 21 inches and 1.6 pounds. The Willis Tower and Empire State Building Squeezables are currently available through the company’s Kickstarter campaign.
While the four founders of Squeezable Skyline love Chicago and New York, they know many other people love their cities too and are hard at work drawing up the next buildings to add to the collection. Pending the success of the Willis Tower and Empire State Building Squeezables, the John Hancock Center in Chicago will be released mid-2014 with 22 additional towers in 14 cities to follow later this year.
