St. Vincent Meals On Wheels Launches New Talk Series - “HUNGRY: Talks On What It Takes to Make a Difference” to Spark Dialogue & Action about Giving Back
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 17, 2014 -- This February, Los Angeles-based St. Vincent Meals on Wheels (STVMOW), the nation’s largest privately-funded Meals on Wheels program, launches a three-part talk series entitled, “HUNGRY: Talks on What It Takes to Make a Difference” (HUNGRY, #HUNGRYtalks). The HUNGRY series will feature screenings, interactive presentations and panel discussions that explore the topics of social responsibility, humanitarian work and volunteerism. Each talk will provide opportunities for guests to directly enroll in a range of volunteer activities.
HUNGRY’s debut event features an advance screening of the film, The Letters (20th Century Fox, releases late 2014). The Letters, starring Juliet Stevenson, Rutger Hauer and Max von Sydow, dramatizes Mother Teresa of Calcutta’s courageous leap from a cloistered nun to a woman who would found a worldwide mission. The screening is followed by a panel discussion on the topic:
“Mission or Mania: What drives pioneers of change?” Moderated by Val Zavala, Vice President News & Public Affairs, KCET, panelists include: William Riead, Director, The Letters; Dr. Helen Land, Associate Professor, USC School of Social Work; Sr. Alice Marie Quinn, D.C. Founder, St. Vincent Meals on Wheels; Teresa Samaniego, Director of Public Affairs, ABC7 News; and Reverend Lawrence Seyer, Pastor, USC Caruso Catholic Center.
