Stago Features Advancements in Coagulation Laboratory Studies in Educational Webinar
(PRWEB) November 30, 2017 -- Coagulation testing methodologies are often challenging for new users to understand. Terminology may be confusing and the methodologies are sensitive to many variables. Consideration of biological, preanalytical, and analytical conditions is critical to reporting accurate results.
Presented at the Stago EdVantage Virtual University Virtual Event, this webinar will be focused on explaining methodologies, including tests used to screen for bleeding and thrombotic disease states, determining coagulation factor levels, confirming the presence of lupus anticoagulants, and tests utilized to diagnose von Willebrand Disease. In addition, platelet function testing and global hemostasis assays will be briefly covered.
Through this webinar, participants will review hemostasis-related laboratory studies, including coagulation testing, von Willebrand factor assays, and platelet studies. They will also learn from a discussion of laboratory testing to evaluate a range of bleeding disorders and all relevant terminology, methodologies, test selection, test performance sequence, and interpretation.
Dr. Meera Chitlur, a hematology and oncology professor of pediatrics at Wayne State University School of Medicine, will be the speaker for this event.
Chitlur is Professor of Pediatrics and Barnhart-Lusher Hemostasis Research Endowed Chair at Wayne State University School of Medicine and practices in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the Children's Hospital of Michigan. She earned her MBBS degree at Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences in Bangalore, India and completed her postgraduate training as a pediatric resident at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Her research interest is in global hemostasis assays, particularly Thromboelastography and Thrombin Generation.
