Stars Sign on to Film The New Weapon; This Project Hopes to Raise the Awareness of Cyber-Bullying
New York, New York (PRWEB) February 18, 2014 -- The New Weapon is a short film that is not short on talent. Taking the role of Brian will be Jamie Harrold known from his work in the Academy Award winning short The New Tenants, Kingdom Hospital, The Score and Erin Brokevich. The cast also includes Kaili Vernoff from Woody Allen’s The Curse of the Jade Scorpion and Sweet and Lowdown. Their Daughter Destiny will be played by Broadway darling Rachel Resheff from Shrek,The Musical, Marry Poppins, Billy Elliot and The People in The Pictures. Film and Television credits include 3 Backyards and Orange is the New Black. The role of Kenya will be played by Charlotte White. Charlotte White is known for her role in Private Practice as a young girl with gender identity disorder that won best performance in a television series - guest starring young actress ten and under.
Scorzelli, an award winning Director/Producer was inspired to dig deeper into the topic of cyber-bullying after noticing the number of deaths reported in the news. Michalina Scorzelli states, “The statistics of cyber-bullying are staggering.” Bullying has been happening since the beginning of time but in this new age of social media there is no escaping it. Bullying is not just happening in the schoolyards any more. Sadly, the results are destroying and costing lives.
Scorzelli, brought the script to Executive Producer and International Business man Patrick Faiola. Faiola has been in the Media and Entertainment Industry for over 26 years. He agreed to Green Light the film not just based on the obvious theme of Cyber-bullying but his strong concern with the impact technology is having on today’s youth. “All technology has Pros and Cons,” states Faiola, but unfortunately for today’s youth the negatives are having disastrous results. These consequences extend further than the segment that this film portrays. This exciting partnership makes The New Weapon the first Scorzelli/Faiola Production, in association with Independent Artists Collaborative LLC.
The New Weapon is scheduled to shoot in Upstate, NY at the end of February and will be on the fast track to be released.
A feature film titled the same is being developed based on the short to go into Production 2015.
