State Farm Agent Celeste Middleton Educates Uninsured Tennessee Drivers
Murfreesboro, TN (PRWEB) January 29, 2016 -- According to the Times Free Press article, Tennessee drivers can now be towed on the spot if they are unable to provide proof of insurance to law enforcement officers during a traffic stop.The intention of the new law is to reduce and crack down on the estimated 660,000 uninsured motorists in Tennessee.
“The new law also increases the minimum fine for not carrying proof of insurance from $100 to $300,” said Celeste Middleton, of State Farm. “As an insurance agent, I hope it will make more drivers attentive to making sure they have insurance so there are less uninsured motorist claims.”
Furthermore, the new law mandates development of a statewide electronic insurance database by 2017 so law enforcement can immediately verify a driver’s insurance, as law enforcement officers are not required to tow a vehicle whose driver can’t provide proof of insurance; they simply have the option to do so. For already insured motorists, Middleton and State Farm offer a Pocket Agent® app that allows the insuree to manage all of their policies on their phone.
“The best aspect of the Pocket Agent® app as it pertains to the new law is having the ability to pull up your insurance ID card on your phone if you don’t have those documents in your car,” said Middleton. “You can also file claims and upload pictures with it if you’ve been in an accident.”
