State-of-the-Art Climate Software Released to Coincide with NYC UN Climate Summit
Hamilton, New Zealand (PRWEB) September 22, 2014 -- In recognition of the UN Climate Summit in New York CLIMsystems is happy to announce the release of a new free version of its climate change adaptation and risk assessment software, SimCLIM 2013. It is called SimCLIM Lite and comes with a smaller data packet to facilitate the rapid download of the program even for those with limited internet capabilities. The system can be easily expanded with full data sets and study areas.
This award winning software package is a state-of-the-art climate risk and adaptation assessment tool and represents over 20 years of development. It is already being used around the world by educators, governments, non-governmental organizations and consultants. It is global in scope with the latest CMIP5 data processed for easy access for generating spatial and site specific climate change scenarios. The full version comes packed with 40 daily data general circulation model patterns for generating precipitation, temperature, solar radiation, humidity and wind scenarios for anywhere on the planet – and study areas are available from the global to city scale. The latest representative concentration pathway (RCP) options are included. The software fully supports the use of ensembles for both climate and for the world’s only sea level rise scenario generator that can incorporate vertical land movement.
SimCLIM Lite can be downloaded and will begin to run instantly – no registration is required. The download includes quick start guides that facilate the creation of climate scenarios and extreme event analysis in minutes. Everything can be done with confidence knowing that all the hard work of data down-scaling and processing has been done given the oversight of the world’s leading climate scientists. The CLIMsystems' software and scientific support team is also available to answer questions if the comprehensive online FAQ and data manuals have missed anything.
E-students, NGOs, consultants, company sustainability officers who wish to better understand climate change science can use this software to demystify the complex aspects of climate modeling. CLIMsystems supports the growing number of high quality on-line climate courses that are gaining popularity. We applaud the UN’s CC:Learn e-course with participants from 195 countries and the University of Melbourne’s recent course with over 14000 enrollments. Clearly these e-courses are meeting an enormous need for climate knowledge.
CLIMsystems is filling the growing void between climate e-courses and their conceptual and theoretical focus and the need for practice-based knowledge. By making SimCLIM Lite available, e-course concepts can be reinforced. But the practical educative power of SimCLIM Lite is not restricted to e-learners. Anyone with climate interests can access the free version. CLIMsystems is very passionate about this student group and others truly understanding the real world application of RCPs, GCMs and climate sensitivity through the easy to use SimCLIM Lite software.
CLIMsystems is eager to hear about SimCLIM Lite and as a result we are offering an exclusive 15% discount on the full version of SimCLIM 2013 to users that provide us with feedback on their experience with the software.
