State of Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction Grants Licensure to Emerald City School, a New Private School in Downtown Seattle
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- Emerald City School (ECS), a new private school located in the South Lake Union area of Seattle, announced it has been granted licensure by the State of Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) to operate as a school commencing its first year this September. Head of School, Jeremy Turner commented, “We worked closely with the state during the application process and are very pleased to have met their standards and have been granted official state licensure.”
ECS offers individualized, evidence-based instruction for students with learning disabilities. With an approach that is tailored to meet the specific needs of students, the mission of Emerald City School is to provide students with the support, care, and instruction they need to reach their full potential and to become life-long learners. Emerald City School provides an important alternative to students and families who are looking for the best practices and environment for special education in the Seattle metro area.
Emerald City School presently provides instruction in grades 1 through 6 for students who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities such as dyslexia (reading), dysgraphia (writing), and dyscalculia (math). The school is also designed to meet the needs of children with attention challenges (ADHD, ADD), executive functioning difficulties (problems with planning, organizing, strategizing, paying attention, and remembering), and autism at the mild end of the autistic spectrum.
Classes at Emerald City School will begin Wednesday, September 3, 2014. The school is located at 520 Denny Way in Seattle in brand new facilities in the shadow of the Space Needle.
