Status Labs Offers New Services Based on Google’s Algorithm Updates
New York, NY (PRWEB) April 22, 2015 -- The top results of a Google search may include lies and misinformation. Google has devised a plan to get rid of bad information, conspiracy theories, and misconceptions as top results in the search engine by ranking websites by factual accuracy rather than popularity, giving new meaning to the phrase “Googling it.” As a result of the recent Google updates, Status Labs now offers customizable services to adapt with the new changes.
“At Status Labs, we smartly shape and protect our clients’ reputations,” explained Darius Fisher, President of Status Labs. “Your reputation is your most valuable asset. We’ve assembled a team of search engineers, public relations professionals, and crisis consultants to solve any online challenge by sharing meaningful news and content about our clients with the world.”
What appears on the first page of Google when an individual or company is searched is important. Status Labs points out that results can affect employment, client prospects, and future opportunities. Being “Googled” before an interview is inevitable. But because the search engine uses a “popularity” algorithm, it doesn’t always guarantee the quality or truthfulness of a recommended page.
According to gravitateonline.com, over 94% of Google users click on a first page result and less than 6% actually click to the second page. The first result on the first page of Google gets over a third of all the available clicks.
So how would this new Google search work? The new algorithm draws on Google's "knowledge vault" -- a collection of 2.8 billion facts extracted from the internet. By checking pages against the database, and cross-referencing related facts, the research team believes the algorithm could assign each page a truth score. Pages with a high proportion of false claims would be bumped down in the search results. This possible switch from popularity to truth in the algorithm means that earned media outreach is more important than ever.
This is why Status Labs attacks clients’ negative search results from all angles, including with traditional PR. Status Labs’ talented team of public relations professionals have secured positive press for clients in top tier media outlets including Forbes, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, and USA Today.
“We develop and implement strategies for our clients to repair their digital presence whether it be on social media or what shows up in Google results,” Fisher said. “By taking an active role in the direction of their online reputation, clients are judged on facts, not by past mistakes or misunderstandings,” said Fisher.
“I read it on the internet so it must be true” is a common misconception among people. Just because something is popular, does not necessarily mean it is reliable or factual.
In addition to this recent change, Google has also updated the way results appear on smartphones and tablets. Google will favor those who have "mobile-friendly" websites significantly impacting search ranks.
