STEAM Academy of Cincinnati Opens its Doors this School Year to K-5 Students Proving Additional School Choice for Families in Hamilton County
Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- STEAM Academy of Cincinnati, a public charter school in the Madisonville area of Cincinnati will open its doors this August to kindergarten through fifth grade students.
One of sixteen schools managed by Mosaica Education throughout the state of Ohio, STEAM Academy of Cincinnati will follow the same, AdvancEd™-accredited Mosaica School Model followed by all schools in the Mosaica School Network, including Columbus Preparatory Academy in Columbus, Ohio, which has been recently named the highest ranked K-8 school district in Ohio for the second consecutive year.
Opening as a K-5 school and eventually expanding through 8th grade, STEAM Academy of Cincinnati will be a family-centered, charter school with small class sizes and highly qualified teachers. As a public charter school authorized by the Ohio Council of Community Schools, STEAM Academy aims to offer a “private school quality” education for free—including a full-day Kindergarten and an emphasis on its namesake specialty subjects such as science, technology and the arts (STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art and math).
A truly well-rounded education, the hallmark of STEAM Academy’s curriculum will be Paragon™, an award-winning accelerated learning program that takes students on a school-wide journey through world culture, beginning at the start of the school year in the Ancient World and concluding in current day by the end of the year. Developed by Dr. Dawn Eidelman, co-founder of Mosaica Education and former Humanities Professor, Paragon™ replaces traditional Social Studies, History, Civics and Geography lessons, integrates the Visual and Performing Arts and serves as a double dose of Literacy instruction.
Ms. Anna Trachsel has been named Head of School of STEAM Academy. Ms. Trachsel leads the school with over two decades of administration and teaching experience in public, private and online education settings. Ms. Trachsel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Miami University as well as a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Cincinnati along with numerous Principal licenses and a Superintendent license.
