Stillpoint Spaces Launches Online Therapy Platform, Alongside Brick-and-Mortar Counseling and Research Centre in Berlin
Zurich, Switzerland (PRWEB) March 05, 2015 -- Stillpoint Spaces, a venture focused on helping people deal with life’s challenges and find personal meaning in today’s complex and fast-moving society, is today launching both an online therapy platform and a new type of brick-and-mortar centre in Berlin. This live space will offer one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy, as well as host discussions, workshops and events that inform and embed modern psychoanalytic thought within the local community in exciting and innovative ways. Stillpoint also plans to launch further similar hubs in London and other cities around the world in the future.
The online platform will enable anyone, anywhere to receive counselling and therapy in a secure environment by connecting individuals directly to experienced counselors, psychoanalysts and other therapists, for one-to-one sessions, as well as providing web-based courses and workshops. Counsellors available through Stillpoint have a variety of relevant backgrounds and speak a number of languages, including English, German, French, Russian, Spanish, Italian and Japanese. The brick-and-mortar venue in Berlin is designed as a community space - part counselling centre and part research facility, providing a new kind of supportive and creative environment for individuals and groups to explore their inner lives.
Originally based in Zurich, Stillpoint was founded by a group of psychoanalysts: Jakob Lusensky, Evangelos Tsempelis and Dr Stephen Setterberg, each with backgrounds and expertise in areas including online psychiatry, digital businesses and international relations. Together with London psychotherapist and cultural theorist Dr. Aaron Balick, and the Zurich Lab, a Zurich-based centre for psychoanalysis of culture, Stillpoint is also researching the nature of online versus offline therapeutic interaction, with an aim to further enhance and grow the organisation’s offering. Dr. Balick, who is Stillpoint’s research advisor, notes that: “As far as we are aware, this is the first research initiative of its kind ever undertaken within psychoanalysis.”
Co-Founder of Stillpoint Spaces, Dr Stephen Setterberg, commented: “We live in a psychological world, almost totally colonised by mass-media messages, online social networks and advertising images, telling us what matters in life and how to live it. Stillpoint offers an alternative by providing both online and physical spaces which enable people to explore their personalities and engage with their lives in a deeper way. A wide variety of people can benefit from using Stillpoint and don’t necessarily need to be suffering from anxiety or depression to do so. For many clients, it’s more about looking for meaning, understanding themselves better and living their lives in a fuller way.”
Stillpoint’s online and offline services provide a high standard of psychological care, such as counselling and psychotherapy, in a model that combines both traditional and innovative responses. Individuals seeking online services are able to access Stillpoint through a secure web platform, where they can choose their desired research counsellor and “try them out” with a free 25 minute session. Should they choose to continue, they can schedule audio or video sessions at their convenience. Typical appointments last at least 50 minutes and the length of treatment will be dependent on the client’s needs.
