Stone Creek Builders to sponsor 2014 Matawan Turkey Trot
Matawan, NJ (PRWEB) November 17, 2014 -- Stone Creek Builders of New Jersey has announced its Gold sponsorship for the 2014 Matawan Borough Turkey Trot event, set to be held on Saturday, November 29th. Each year, Matawan Borough sponsors its ultra-popular Turkey Trot 5K Race and Fitness Walk on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, encompassing a race/fitness walk through the historic and scenic streets of Matawan. The standing goal is to raise funds to benefit Matawan’s parks, recreation programs and events.
Billed as an event to “burn off all the Thanksgiving stuffing,” the Matawan Borough 5K Turkey Trot and Fitness Walk plots an officially-certified 5K course that closes down Main Street from Station Plaza to Route 34, Ravine Drive from Main Street to Union Street, Union Street from Ravine Drive to Aberdeen Road and Aberdeen Road from Union Street to Main Street from 10:00 a.m. until the conclusion of the event at approximately 12:00 pm. To accommodate the event and minimize inconvenience, all residents and businesses – specifically those within the aforementioned areas – are urged by Matawan Police and Office of Emergency Management officials to plan their travel with these road closures in mind.
Proceeds from last years fundraiser have allowed Matawan to upgrade signage and landscaping to town parks, as well as keeping playgrounds and basketball equipment in good repair. Phase I of the Gazebo Project has been completed. Phase II, which will add landscaping is about to get underway. By using Turkey Trot funds the Recreation Commission will be able to purchase new Kayaks for the Lake Lefferts rental program for the next summer season.
