Stop Hunger Now and Vodafone Americas Foundation to Package 30,000 Meals Across the United States
(Redwood City, CA (PRWEB) November 17, 2015 -- Stop Hunger Now, Vodafone Americas Foundation and Vodafone employees are joining forces in the fight against hunger. On November 19th, Vodafone employees in the US will simultaneously package 30,000 meals from three Vodafone offices in Sandy Hook, CT, Redwood City, CA and New York, NY with the international nonprofit, Stop Hunger Now.
“This initiative was started by the Vodafone Women’s Network in the US, part of a global network of women at Vodafone who collaborate and impact change,” said June Sugiyama, Vodafone Americas Foundation Director. “We feel this project with Stop Hunger Now is a great opportunity to engage our employees and give back to our communities. We hope this is just a start of more opportunities to join forces within Vodafone and our community partners, as our goal is to put good into action and empower social change in our communities around the globe.”
Stop Hunger Now meal packaging events are a volunteer-based program that coordinates the streamlined packaging of highly nutritious dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables and 23 essential vitamins and minerals.
Around the world, nearly 795 million people lack adequate food. Stop Hunger Now operates meal packaging locations in 19 cities throughout the U.S. and six international locations in South Africa, Malaysia, the Philippines, Italy,India and Peru.. Last year, more than 274,800 volunteers from corporations, churches, schools and civic organizations packaged Stop Hunger Now meals.
Founded in 1998, Stop Hunger Now has delivered aid and disaster relief supplies in the form of food, medical supplies, clothing, school supplies and more to thousands of disaster victims and other hungry and vulnerable people in 71 countries.
