Storybook Holidays with Zeigler House Inn's Southern Gentlefolks in Historic Savannah, Georgia USA
Savannah, GA (PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- “All is calm, all is bright” in the prominent residential neighborhood of brick-cobbled Jones Street in Savannah’s National Landmark District. From Columbus Day through Christmas, the 2013 holidays are destined to be extraordinary at the elegant Zeigler House Inn. In mid-September caterer-turned-innkeeper Jackie Heinz is busy selecting the Christmas décor and testing the heritage-rich cake recipes.
“Discerning travelers are looking now for unique fall and winter holiday places, and we’d love for them to find and choose Zeigler House Inn,” states the Kentucky-born innkeeper of the popular seven-room historic inn. "I want travelers to know in addition to comfort, convenience and connectivity, they'll enjoy wonderful days and nights that are merry and bright here."
Yes, the inn's simple indulgences make the stay affordable. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, parking, in-suite breakfast, beverages and snacks, plus afternoon desserts. Farm to table is one of the inn's specialties also during Friday and Saturday evening hors d'oeuvres.
The innkeeper points out that many travel editors and writers recommend the city’s historic bed and breakfasts to tap into more engaging charm and insights from the locals. "U.S. and international travelers tell us also how much they adore the slower southern pace and the friendly welcome,” Jackie adds.
Without the bustling crowds during big spring festivals, such as those found during St. Patrick’s Day or the Savannah Music Festival, the city’s charm is more genteel and endearing during unhurried Christmas holidays near entertainment, shopping and dining in the downtown district.
The Inn Has Fragrance Like Grandmother’s Kitchen
The aroma of significant baking and happy welcome are hallmarks of this historic home, restored and re-purposed for the discerning traveler’s lodging place. Jackie shares a glimpse of holiday desserts, each giving a nod to honor the inn’s multicultural heritages.
• The German Chocolate Cake is a tribute to the inn’s original owner, Solomon Zeigler, a prominent lumber merchant whose legacy includes Georgia’s 18th Century Salzburger colonists from Austria and Germany.
• The Classic French Génoise Cake pays tribute to the inn’s French-inspired décor, intended to honor General Marque de Lafayette, the American Revolutionary hero beloved in Savannah.
• The Caramel Praline Pecan Cake celebrates the innkeeper’s southern heritage and her love of The South, its food and traditions.
More Lights and More Heritage-Rich Desserts for Christmas Holidays 2013
Beyond the inn’s Austrian, German, French, and Southern USA heritage, Savannah is a city with a heritage also of lights. Samuel P. Hamilton, the prominent citizen who installed the City of Savannah’s first street lights proclaimed, “Savannah will be one of the best lit cities in the south.”
In 2013, Zeigler House Inn will be doing its part to ratchet up festive lights to celebrate the holidays in memorable, unique style.
The Inside Holiday Stage is Set, Too, with Family Treasures and Stories
The glass shepherd’s crook on the mantle is the innkeeper's heirloom, first cherished by the her grandfather from his boyhood role in his hometown Christmas play. Another family keepsake, a pink Depression glass candy dish, sits still in use, unassumingly on the parlor coffee table. Each gentle rustle of the candy dish is a reminder to innkeeper Jackie Heinz of the peanut butter candy pillows she would attempt to withdraw without her grandmother hearing the tell-tell clank of the candy dish lid during her youth.
“We hope that newlyweds, singles, working professionals and empty-nest couples will NOT dismiss the splendor of Christmas, but will arrive at Zeigler House Inn ready for a mini-fairytale with the gentlefolk,” Jackie Heinz encourages.
The inn is near historic churches and wonderful small cafes to classy local restaurants. Walking through the garden squares and city sidewalks, the church bells peal hymns and carols of the season. Boutique, antique and artisan shops, plus art galleries, museums and entertainment venues are a short walking distance. Easy transport by shuttle or pedicabs keeps a Savannah holiday visit feeling more like a village-style getaway in The South’s most friendly city.
P.S. Halloween is a fun time in Savannah, too. On Friday nights in October 2013 the inn’s guests will enjoy haunted tales, discounts on walking tours and “Desserts to Spoil Dinner”, compliments of the house! Also in October 2013, please watch for Zeigler House Inn, featured on Wheel of Fortune nationally and Eat It and Like It's Season 3 episode airing regionally on NBC affiliate WSAV television in the southeast USA.
