Hartford, CT (PRWEB) February 25, 2015 -- Communication is fundamental in all our lives and it begins with a story. In a four-week online course offered by The International Society of Sustainability Professionals, participants will develop a deeper connection to the role and function of story and how this plays out in our communication of what sustainability means to each one of us, as individuals and as sustainability professionals. Taught by eco-psychologist Dr. Jeff Leinaweaver, this course will offer sustainability professionals the opportunity to tell a first-person digital story of sustainability. By way of this online course, participants will learn to craft a personal story of sustainability through still images, video, personal voice over and music.
As with traditional storytelling, most digital stories will focus on a specific topic and contain a particular point of view on sustainability or corporate social responsibility. Participants will be asked to use Social Media tools for iPhone, iPad or Android, including the downloading and use of photography and video editing applications. Overall, participants will walk away with new ways to tell their sustainability story and better understand how storytelling is the conduit for social innovation and change.
Through a series of live and interactive webinars, exercises, and a final digital story assignment, participants in this workshop will work towards the following learning objectives:
- Creating a first-person digital story that can be shared via Social Media
- Develop an understanding of best practices in digital and visual storytelling
- Develop basic skills for telling digital stories
- Learn key aspects to successful storytelling for sustainability
- Understand how to authentically communicate stories that matter
The online workshop experience is March 2 through March 23. The workshop is delivered online and via the Internet so participants interact from their computers for both the live weekly webinars and for the 24/7 online 'classroom' experience. Successful completion of this workshop can be applied as a core credit towards the ISSP Sustainability Professionals Certificate.
